The Banquet/Social Hall

This attractive, air-conditioned room measures approximately 48 x 70 feet. It accommodates up to 200 people seated at round tables and 180 people seated when there is a dance floor. The carpet is patterned in blue hues, the walls are white, and the room is completely windowed on two sides, so there is plenty of natural light for daytime activities. There is a courtyard just outside the Social Hall that may be used in the warmer months.  A small lobby leading to the restrooms and a large coatroom are located at the entrance to this room.

Genesis is able to supply up to 24 60" round tables, 20 8' rectangular tables, and 195 padded chairs.  A wood parquet dance floor can be rented at an additional cost.

The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped with the latest and best commercial equipment.  When hosting a catered event in the Social Hall, the Genesis Facility Coordinator must approve the caterer to be employed.

Because the Genesis facilities are located in a residential area, music must end by 11:30 pm and guests must leave by midnight. Caterers must leave the premises by 2 am.
































The Sanctuary

While the Sanctuary is used primarily for congregational religious observances, it may be made available, with approval of the clergy, for community events, non-member weddings, or concerts.  The sanctuary acoustics are particularly well suited for chamber music, choral, and instrumental performances.  Genesis has been told that the sanctuary provides the best acoustics in Ann Arbor for chamber music  performances. Risers are available which can accommodate 60 or more singers.  In addition, both a organ and a grand piano may be made available for use by skilled musicians after receiving approval of congregational music directors.

No food or drink, other than for ritual purposes, may be brought into the Sanctuary. The use of incense is prohibited. Candles are not allowed beyond the altar stone, except for a few select services.

Because of Temple services, no events may be scheduled in the Sanctuary after 5 pm on Friday evenings or before 2 pm on Saturdays. Because of Church services, no events may be scheduled in the Sanctuary before 2 pm on Sundays.

Rental Fees (includes use of kitchen)

For congregants:

  1. $550 for daytime events (noon – 4pm)

  2. $650 for evening events (6pm – midnight)

For non-congregants:

  1. $800* for daytime events (noon - 4pm)

  2. $900* for evening events (6pm - midnight)

Dance Floor:

  1. $350

  2. *Non-profit/community groups: Please ask if you are eligible for additional discounts.


A deposit of $100 is due at the time of reservation. The deposit is fully refundable for cancellation up to three months before the event. Full payment is due thirty days prior to the event.  A refundable security/damage deposit of $350 is required for all rentals.

Rental Fees

For congregants:

  1. No charge for room - $50 per hour for custodial service, if reception follows event..

For non-congregants:

  1. $400 for the room - $50 per hour for custodial service, if reception follows event.

The Genesis commercial kitchen is available both for on-site events and off-site food preparation.          

The Genesis banquet/social hall is suitable for large meetings, lectures, music recitals, and parties.          

The sanctuary holds up to 450 people, but because of its semi-circular design, it is suitable for as few as 50 people.
